Emo Is Cool

{May 6, 2008}   Artist of the week – Fall Out Boy

This week, I’m presenting you one of the most popular emo bands, with interesting and long song titles (I’ve Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me…): Fall Out Boy.

Fall Out Boy is a quartet from Chicago, the capital of modern emo. They started they musical path in 2001, when Pete Went and Joe Trohman, who were previously a part of various hardcore bands, decied, that they wanna play more poppy music. They added Patrick Stupm, T. J. Racine and Mike to the lineup and they released an album called Evening Out With Your Girlfriend. But it wasn’t really succesfull and the menbers don’t look back on it with pride. This is why when we think of their debut album, we think of their actually second one, Take This To Your Grave. The lineup on this album was slightly different. This album built them a quite big fanbase, but it wasn’t a commercial succes. Their breakthrough came with their next album, From Under The Cork Tree, which includes many of their most known songs, such as Dance, Dance, Sugar, We’re Going Down… Next album, Infinity In High, made them famous all over the world. In March, they were going for a World record, playing on all 7 continets in the shortest time, but bad weather stoped them from playing on Antarctica.

Fall Out Boy isn’t even emo patrick said he doesn’t even know what it his, he said that since Pete wore eye liner for a while everyone assumes that they’re emo so they aren’t so shame

justlovehouse says:

You know, the genre emo is hard to describe and it’s also hadr to pur artist in it. The thing is, that most people view emo as something bad and that’s why not fans nor bands like o describe themselves as emo. But I don’t see anything bad in it…it’s just emotional punk or rock…and thta’s what Fall Out Boy definately are…that’s why me and Alternative Press, magazine that talks good about emo, tag them as emo band. I hope I didn’t offened you with this…because I love them and I don’t mean they are bad or anything!
